It might be hard to believe but many business owners still have the impression twitter is just a waste of time.  They truly don’t understand how using twitter will have a positive impact on their business.  So the question you may be asking yourself is, how you start attracting new customers and prospects from twitter?  The answer is my building relationships!  It all starts with building relationships and on twitter there are a few different stages.

Today I wtwitter 300x110 Top 7 Twitter Applications   How Do You Tweet on Twitter?as reading Website Magazine (does anyone else still read magazines?) and noticed a small note on Popular Twitter Clients (applications that allow you to do more things with twitter).  There are hundreds of different ways to tweet your message out on twitter but here are the top 7 ways people send out their messages to the twitterverse:

  1. Web – 20.74% – The web means just using twitter.com to send twitter messages.
  2. TweetDeck – 13.73% – TweetDeck is the most popular client for twitter and also connects to your Facebook, Linkedin, and MySpace accounts.  TweetDeck allows you to create groups with the people you are following on twitter.

On August 10th, Alexander Russo in his Chicago Now: District 299 Chicago Schools Blog discussed The Chicago Public Schools new “Network and Computer Resources” policy that bans teachers from using Facebook and Twitter.  The policy is a good example of how organizations aren’t maximizing Social Media so we thought we’d point out this case study.

The Chicago Public Schools ban of Facebook and Twitter brings to light to the following points:

  • Teachers will always be challeged for ways to connect with their students.
  • Texting and social networking sites are a way of life for the younger generations.
