I’m not kidding…
I don’t work for Blog World Expo…
It really did….
And if you are a business owner who wants to learn more about Social Media and you’ve been looking for a one-stop learning experience where you can immerse yourself in an environment and really understand what the Social Media industry is all about, well folks, this is the one. The first thing I read today was Seth Godin’s post on Authenticity. He says that “If it acts like a duck , it’s a duck. It doesn’t matter if the duck thinks it’s a dog, it’s still a duck as far as the rest of us are concerned.”
Seth gives the example of Mother Theresa who was an Atheist but used her actions to define herself. Further, he says, “Authenticity, for me, is doing what you promise, not “being who you are”. His post is really fabulous and discusses how we’re all filled with self doubt but our actions can easily drown out negative self talk. You must go read it for yourself.

Are you a Social Media Expert? I’ve heard and read an abundance of material about what makes someone a Social Media Expert, a Social Media Guru, a Tenured Social Media Consultant. We could easily write a book on this topic in lieu of a blogpost.
In my humble opinion, there are very few Social Media Experts. After all, how can any of us be an expert on an industry that’s so young and moving at such a rapid speed? Certainly, there are pioneers and early adopters that are leaders in this industry and they are clearly experts on certain aspects and tools in the industry. However, one thing is for sure. If you are going to be presenting yourself as a consultant, speaker, blogger, writer related to social media, you’ve got to be a user of the tools demonstrating your own social media strategy.
